Obituaries 2-27-07

George Marsceill

Bristol - George Marsceill, 87, died Monday, February 19, 2007 at Helen Porter Nursing Home after a long illness.  He was born December 21, 1919 in New Haven, the son of Julia (Russell) and Edgar Marsceill.

    He graduated from Beeman Academy and Randolph College of Agriculture.  After graduation he was a milk tester for Addison County before buying his family farm.

    He married Phyllis Mack on February 24, 1946.

    He farmed for twenty-five years.  After selling the farm he was the Road Commissioner for the town of New Haven for fourteen years.  He worked for Reed’s Auto Supply for several years.

    He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis,  sons, Michael and his wife Jill of Philadelphia, Douglas and Marc both of Las Angeles, CA, and Randy Ross, who was like a son; a daughter Lynn of McMartin of Syracuse; two grandsons Christopher and Patrick; a granddaughter Kathryn McMartin Tovar and husband Ian; and a great grandson Daniel Austin Tovar.

    He was predeceased by two brothers, Francis and Russell Marsceill, and a sister Ruth King.  Calling hours will be Wednesday, February 21st at Brown McClay Funeral Homes, Inc., 4 South St., Bristol from 3-6 pm.

    A funeral mass was held at St. Ambrose, in Bristol on Thursday, February 22nd.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bristol Rescue Squad Bristol, VT 05443.

Myrtle M. Bowers

Monkton- Myrtle M. Bowers, 96, died peacefully at home, Thursday, February 22, 2007, after a period of declining health.

      Myrtle was born on October 5, 1910 to Lillian (Kiechle) and Henry H. Embleton in Jersey City, New Jersey.

     She was married to Albert T. Bowers (nee Von Lubowski) on October 4, 1937 and celebrated 50 years together in 1987. Albert predeceased her in 1990.

     Myrtle worked for Bell Telephone in NYC prior to marriage. Once her sons were in school she worked for Beacham Products (now GlaxoSmithKline), retiring in 1975. In 1980 Myrtle and Al moved from their home in Clifton, NJ to Monkton, Vermont to be near their son and family. Mom set a wonderful example of love, kindness, morality and support for all of us. Her passing leaves a great void in our lives, but the example she set for us, the love and lessons she gave us, will live on in all her family members. Our memories of her will help sustain us for many years to come.

     Myrtle is survived by her two sons, Albert Bowers and his wife Wichin, and children Jureeporn Lertpradist and Jirasuk Gijgosol of Jacksonville, NC and Bangkok, Thailand, and William Bowers and his wife Helen of Monkton; two grandsons, J. William Bowers and his wife Heidi of Essex Junction, and Christopher A Bowers and his wife Jennifer of Monkton; one great grandson, Aidan of Monkton; and one great granddaughter, Aislin of Essex Junction.
Myrtle is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. In addition to her husband Albert, Myrtle was predeceased by her sisters and spouses, Edith and Joseph Rutter of Arizona, Helen and Jerry Sheahan of New Jersey, Doris and Herb Demler of Pennsylvania and by her brother and spouse, Leroy and Marge Embleton of New Jersey.  

     A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the Congregational Church in Vergennes. Internment will be at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Addison County Home Health and Hospice, Inc., Middlebury.         

Timothy A. Litch

Vergennes- Timothy A. Litch 56 died Friday February 23, 2007 at his home in Orwell.

    He was born April 1, 1950 in Middlebury the son of Floyd and Helen (Bigelow) Litch.

    Timothy is survived by three children, Joshua Litch Sr., Sara Litch and Jared Litch all of Middlebury; two grandsons, Joshua Litch Jr., and Gabriel Litch of Vergennes; a brother, Jim Litch and Gisele of Addison; two sisters, Jean and Eugene Withington of West Rutland; and Brenda and Williem Jaring of Franklin; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Doris and Reggie LaRose of Orwell; and Roy Lockwood Jr. of Leicester.

    Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday February 27th at Vergennes Congregational Church. Interment will be in the spring. Friends may call at the Vergennes Congregational Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. up to hour of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Addison County Home Health & Hospice Route 7 Middlebury, VT 05753.
