Juanita Porter Blair

Vergennes-Juanita passed away on February 14, 2007 at her home with family by her side.

    She was born November 18, 1912 in Lincoln, VT the daughter of Luna Danforth and Bert Porter.

     She attended schools in Pittsford, Fair Haven and Vergennes. Juanita married Carroll Willard Blair in Vergennes on February 18, 1933, where the couple lived all their married lives. She worked for the Enterprise and Vermonter, a weekly newspaper in Vergennes. She began working at age 15 and worked for the next 50 years. She was a faithful and dedicated employee, working through three different owners of the paper, Otis Rockwood, Bill Hays, and Sam Fishman.

     After retirement, Juanita enjoyed crafting, spending time with the Autumn Leaves Senior Citizen Group, and as a charter member of the Vergennes Home Forum. Also, she enjoyed visiting her granddaughters in Kentucky.

     Juanita is survived by her daughter, Eleanore LaFave of Vergennes, nine grandchildren, Manon, Altricia and Norita of Kentucky, Michael and Troy of Danby, Mindy of Chester, Todd of North Carolina, Brent of Salisbury, and Scott of Vergennes, fourteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. a daughter in law, Rosemarie Blair of Searsburg, VT.

    She was predeceased by her husband, Carroll Willard Blair, a son Willard Blair, son in law, Larry LaFave, three brothers, Fletcher Porter and his wife Gladys, Ken Porter and his wife Jeanne, and Frank Porter and his wife Audrey.

    The family would like to express thanks and gratitude to the caregivers from Addison County Home Health & Hospice, with special thanks to Cathy, Donna, and Brenda.

     Funeral services were held Sunday February 18th at Brown McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. Interment will be in the spring. Expressions of sympathy may be made in form of donations to Addison County Home Health & Hospice PO Box 754 Middlebury, VT 05753.

Jessie E. Gatow

Vergennes - Jessie E. Gatow, 96 died Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

   She was born January 17, 1911 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of Gustave and Jessie (Browne) Muller.

   Predeceased by her husband Albert F. Gatow in 2003

   Jessie was an active member of Forest and Field Club, Addison County Home Forum, various Church Offices at Vergennes Congregational Church where she was a member for over 50 years. Jessie held a Vermont Real Estate and Broker License.

   She is survived by her daughter Constance Billado and husband Wayne of Viola, Arkansas; a son, Kenneth Gatow and his wife Rosemary of Burlington; three grandsons, Thomas Tanner of Florida; Scott Tanner of Florida; and Kenneth Gatow of Burlington.

   Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday February 14th at Vergennes Congregational Church in Vergennes. Burial will be private. There will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bixby Library Main Street Vergennes. VT 05491, or Vergennes Area Rescue Squad PO Box 11 Vergennes, VT 05491. Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes will be in charge of arrangements.

Janice louise Booska

Orwell - Janice Louise Booska, age 67 passed away Wednesday February 14, 2007 at Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington.  She was born December 15, 1939 in Orwell the Daughter of Robert and Annette (Quenneville) McCoy.  She was married to Edward H. Booska in 1959.  She was employed for many years as a seamstress and manager at Geiger of Austria in Middlebury.

   Janice is survived  by her mother Annette  McCoy of Brandon, one daughter, Carol A. Shaw and her husband Michael, Two sons,  James E. Booska and his wife Dana and Jeffrey P. Booska all of Orwell. Six Grandchildren, Lindsi and Dustin Shaw, Jesse, Taylor, Zachary and Levi Booska, all of Orwell. One brother, Michael McCoy of Brandon.

   She is predeceased by her husband Edward in 2001, her father Robert, her brother Steve McCoy and her sister Mary Wetmore.

     A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday  Feb 16th,in St. Paul Catholic Church, Orwell. Celebrant wias Rev. Charles R. Danielson, Parish Priest.

   Private Committal Services and burial will take place in Mountain View Cemetery, Orwell. Pallbearers were Dustin Shaw, Jesse Booska, Zach Booska, Levi Booska, John Beeman and Jason Beman

 Memorial contributions may be made to the Orwell Volunteer Fire Dept. C/O Bob LaDuc,32 Royce Hill Road, Orwell, VT 05760

   Arrangements are under the care of the Mallory Funeral Home, Fair Haven.
