VUHS Commodore Basketball By Alexandra Larrow
The Vergennes Commodores had a very successful week of basketball. On Friday, the boys defeated the Enosburg Hornets. In the first quarter, Vergennes took a small lead, but Enosburg was still not too far behind. The first quarter ended 14-8. In the second quarter, the Commodores slowly began to increase their lead to 14 points, aided mainly by juniors Allen LaBerge and Derrick Mardin. The half ended with a score of 35-21. In the third quarter, the Commodores were able to maintain the gap, but the Hornets were slowly pushing in. The third finished out 46-35. Going in to the fourth quarter, Commodore fans thought it was all wrapped up. But, Enosburg was not done playing yet. [ more ]
