Vergennes Commodores Take Another Loss
By Morgan Denton
Saturday afternoon the Mount Abraham Eagles slipped past the Vergennes Commodores. Vergennes was down by 10-15 points during the game but they started coming back. Abby Benton came out of her shell and started making three pointers, and that turned the game around quickly! The Commodores were winning 52-51 with 50.8 seconds left in the game and the Eagles made a two-point basket and Vergennes fouled them. It was then 56-58 with the Eagles winning and with 2.8 seconds left the Commodoes imbounded the ball and Brittany Nevins shot and missed the game-tying shot at the buzzer. After the game Nevins said that she didn't relize how much time she had. Benton finished with 25 points for the high for Vergennes and Jen Loyer was high scorer for the Eagles with 20 points. The Eagles took home a 58-56 victory.  [ more ]
