Tigers Defense Shines in 28-7 Win Over Saint Johnsbury Hilltoppers

    The 3-0 MUHS Tiger Varsity Football Team came in to this one with three solid wins under their belt.  Otter Valley, Hartford and most recently Rutland have been turned away by a hard hitting defensive unit and an offense that can bust a big play anywhere on the field at any time.
    Middlebury has some depth and experience this year and it shows especially late in the games they have played so far.  Rutland discovered that last week.

2007 Apple Crop Ready For Harvest And Ready For You

    Everyone loves the smell of hot apple pie. What is your favorite? Macs, Cortlands, Honey Crisp, Empires, Gala’s to name a few. Most growers in our area are reporting a good crop this fall.
    Champlain Orchards reports an excellent crop this year.  Judy Larrabee Pomainville who sold the orchard to Bill Shur in 1998 is the orchard’s office manager.  The Larrabee family began the Orchard in 1860.  She is well aware of the historical significance of the business.  “We have a beautiful crop this year and right now Macs, Galas, Empires, Cortlands and Honey Crisps are ready.  Judy also has an apple tip for pie bakers.  “Try a mix of Macs and Empires in your next pie,” she explains.

Porter Receives Donation from Eagles for New Equipment

   Members of the Addison County Eagles, Aerie 3801, presented a contribution of $7,000 to purchase a new piece of medical equipment for the Porter Hospital Emergency Department to PMC President James L. Daily on September 18.
    The donation will allow Porter to replace an IV Fluid and Blanket Warmer used routinely in the Emergency Department.  According to Emergency Department Medical Director, Dr. Fred Kniffin, the current unit had outlived its useful life.   [ more ]
