Local Police Chief Retires With 52 Years In Uniform

Chief James W. Warden has been looking out for the homes, residents and businesses of Shelburne since 1987. He started on the job thirty years ago and has decided to retire but not without a send-off that will be remembered by the community for a long time. Warden worked his way up from patrolman, Corporal, Sergeant, Detective, Juvenile Officer and Chief and has witnessed the evolution of many practices in police work and supports the relationships made in the community which are the backbone of how successful departments work.

When husband and wife Jon and Mona Sullivan came back to the Champlain Valley in 2012, the pair had a vision. Chef and founder of Provisionary, Mona had grown up in California and honed her skills of finding and using great local products in Santa Barbara and San Francisco markets. The Sullivan’s moved to Jon’s home base of Addison County and discovered a stellar collection of artisan products that needed a wider market. They opened Provisionary - Vermont Artisan Box and began creating curated gifts and meshing them with handcrafted items to get Vermont products in the hands of a global market.

It was August of 1986 when Betty Sabourin began her career with numbers. While she had always been good at math in school, the idea of accounting or a career working with the public and taxes never occurred to her.
