Medical/Dental Brigade Is A Mission of Love & Hope

Castleton State University nursing student Shelby Sheehan always knew she wanted to be a nurse and make a difference but it was not until a recent trip with NYVT Nurses Unite that Sheehan experienced first-hand how a committed group of medical professionals could impact and bring change. The group went for a week to Santa Cruz, Honduras with a goal of providing health and dental care to the community. Every morning the group would travel two hours to the community and set up stations at the clinic which included intake and data information, triage, medical, dental, GYN, education, vision and pharmacy.

Signs Of Spring Vermont Bikers Have Big Plans

While most Vermonters look to March for the sweet smell of maple syrup and the arrival of gardening books and seed catalogs, another group is hard at work with a map and a plan. Thousands of Vermonters have caught the cycling bug and represent those who take pleasure rides that involve very long distances. Cycling is more than a past time for Vermonters; it is big business and makes Vermont a destination for bikers of all ages and ranges of experience.

An Olympic Moment Frozen In Time Revisiting Jesse Owens And The 1936 Olympics

The 8th graders at VUMS launched into history this week, both Olympic history and Civil Rights history. Traveling to Middlebury College Track to run the 100 meter, 200 meter, 4X100 meter relay and attempt the long jump, the students were doing more than recreating the iconic 1936 Berlin Olympics performance of American athlete Jesse Owens.
