Celebrating Rural Life With Charlie And Deanna Shapiro

The town of Ferrisburgh celebrated Ferrisburgh Day on September 20, 2014 with more than one hundred people in attendance and it was more than just a remembrance of the settlement of the region. It was a celebration of what makes rural Vermont so appealing and at the heart of the celebration were Charlie and Deanna Shapiro who served on the committee and welcomed people to their barn and to the festivities.  [ more ]

Tigers Win Div I Quarter Final Matchup Over CVU 54-6

CVU travelled to Middlebury in hoping for a first ever playoff victory.  After a rout in week five with Middlebury beating the Red Hawks on their own turf it would take a herculean effort, lucky breaks and some Halloween tricks for the Champlain Valley team to even have a chance.

Vergennes Lions Club Celebrates 60 Years

The Vergennes Lions Club celebrated their 60th Anniversary recently at Basin Harbor Club with International Director Ed Farrington, from New Hampshire, thanking the club for their support to the community and presenting awards to a few members.  The club was chartered in November 1954 with 25 members, having been sponsored by the Middlebury Lions Club.  Two of the original charter members, Robert Barrows and Richard Poquette are still members.

Feed My Starving Children And Volunteers Packs Meals For Children Overseas

Three years ago six Chittenden County women sat together in a book club and were invigorated by the book Radical by David Platt. Determined to be involved in something that would count and help, the group pondered how six retired women in Chittenden County Vermont could achieve this goal. Two of the women had gotten emails concerning a non profit Christian organization called Feed My Starving Children that was committed to feeding children in body and spirit. Under the vision of two of the women, Dodie Thon and Karen Lawrence, the group moved into action.
