Making A Difference: A Window Into Nydelis Ortiz’s Peace Corps Service

The Peace Corps was founded in 1961 with the mission of promoting world peace and working collaboratively with partner organizations to create positive change. 215,000 volunteers have and continue to donate one to two years of their time living in a foreign country and helping address challenges including disease, hunger, inequality and empowerment. Vermonter Nydelis Ortiz was in middle school in Addison County when a close family friend joined the Peace Corps and was sent to the Dominican Republic to work as a health volunteer.   [ more ]

Middlebury FFA Sets High Standards

The Middlebury FFA chapter is located at and comprised of students enrolled in agriculture courses here at the Patricia A Hannaford Career Center.  Each year our FFA students compete in a variety of FFA career development events (CDEs).  From judging livestock, to forestry products/management, dairy products, parliamentary procedures and farm business management; these events provide a venue in which FFA members demonstrate their ability to apply classroom knowledge to real-life situations.

Growing The Next Generation On The Land: The Importance Of FFA

State Future Farmers of America (FFA) president and MUHS senior MaKayla Davis has been involved in agriculture her entire life and grew up showing beef cattle at Field Days with her friends. She credits the teachers, advisers and the programs of the Patricia A. Hannaford Career Center (PAHCC) in Middlebury and the FFA for turning that passion into a direction and future.
