Sharing Memories with Lenore Shewell 91

For a woman of 91 years, Lenore Shewell walks quite upright.  At an age when many do not get around too easily, Lenore is up, shoulders back and eyes bright.  She puts on a bit of blush and mascara and perhaps a bit of shadow every day.  Her fingernails are beautifully manicured.  She drives to buy her own groceries and emails her family and friends.

Living and Breathing History: Vermont History Day

Come on, come clean, when you were in school, history was not your favorite subject. It was a bunch of dates, names, places and you memorized them for the test and then promptly forgot them, your lunch money and the words from Fridays spelling test. But, what if, history was living, breathing and very much based on your personal interest? Sound promising? It should, because it is the Vermont History Day Competition and on Saturday, March 31st approximately 220 Vermont teens gathered at Spaulding High School to show off their research and interest in topics that all tied to the theme of Revolution, Reaction, and Reform and were as individual as the competitors themselves.  [ more ]

   Children love holidays and having the family around means many people to talk to and to have fun with.  They also love to contribute in the cooking and decorating.  These tissue paper flowers are fun to make, bright and cheerful.
