Sharing Lessons of Being Together: Spending Time with Paul and Polly Sisters

Teamwork is a commodity that is highly valued in today’s competitive world. Coaches stress it with athletes, corporations bring in experts to foster it and schools instruct students on how to work as a team member. Still, with all that focus it seems to be in short supply in the world today. Perhaps we are all looking in the wrong place. Spend a couple of hours with a couple like Paul and Polly Sisters and witness teamwork that is dynamic, fluid and second nature. After all, they have been a team and together since their marriage in 1945, some sixty-six years ago.

Ferrisburgh Central School Wins Farm To School Video Contest

As the camera scanned the salad bar filled with fresh local vegetables at Hartland Elementary School, one student said, “The salad bar is healthy and awesome.”  This was a scene in one of three winning videos for The Reel Farm to School: Vermont Farm to School Video Contest. Jointly sponsored by Vermont Food Education Every Day (VT FEED) in partnership with the Orton Family Foundation, the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, and Vermont Public Television, the contest invited stories from students across Vermont about how they were changing their local food systems, building support to get local and healthier school food and creating community connections. The students produced short videos highlighting school food system change.   [ more ]

Something To Cheer About!

This is competition season for the local cheerleading squads and Vergennes continues its strong tradition of multiple levels of teams and multiple wins at different regional and state competitions.  Also reporting outstanding results were the Vergennes Minis that took first at the NVAC Cheerleading Competition and the Vergennes Fliers that took second. With over 75 youth in the program, there is something to cheer about!
