Generations Join To Assure That Veterans Are “Never Forgotten”

    On Memorial Day, the population of the little city will multiply by at least a factor of five and over 10,000 people will line the streets, yards, porches and balconies to watch the largest parade in the state pass by. In addition to the overwhelming show of support for community organizations and children, the parade will carry a more somber and haunting message. It will celebrate and honor the American veterans past and present so that their sacrifices will never be forgotten. Joining the festivities that will include visiting dignitaries, state leaders and veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Iraq, are two current American military members who grew up in the area and called Vergennes their home.

Local Health Career Students Excell At PAHCC

    Every student who will graduate next month from area High Schools will be celebrating a significant milestone and accomplishment in their life and academic career.  But four young women, Mae Murdock (Shoreham), Alex Sears (Cornwall), Ashley Tatro (Bristol), and Kali Trautwein (Middlebury) will be celebrating a very special accomplishment.  These graduating seniors were also enrolled in the Health Careers Program at the Patricia A. Hannaford Career Center (PAHCC), a 2-year program designed to provide them with skills and experiences that have prepared them to pursue a career in a variety of health professions, according to the program instructor Rita Wells, RN, MSN.   [ more ]

10th Annual Spring Wave

    AWESOME weekend and not only because the weather was fantastic but rather the Vergennes Rowing team dominated in their rowing competition on Saturday at Button Bay. Competing in the 10th annual Spring Wave sponsored by the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum the Vergennes teams competed with eight other schools to claim bragging rights of who has the best rowing team in the region.   [ more ]
