Sharing Memories with Grace Devino

    If you are up early enough and driving to work with your cup of coffee and jelly donut in hand, you will pass the dedicated walkers, pushing through their daily exercise and their tour of  Vergennes. One of these early risers is Grace Devino, who was born in Panton seventy-eight years ago and has called the surrounding area her home ever since. While meeting with Grace at her home in Vergennes, it is easy to see that a positive attitude and persistence are a permanent part of Grace’s life and account for her energy and activity level.

What's This About A Not-Just Art Auction? It's the Addison County Hospice Volunteer Services 23rd Annual Arts Auction

   The auction will be held on Friday, May 8th from 5:30 to 9:00 pm at the Basin Harbor Club in Vergennes.
   The silent auction is from 5:30 to 9:00 pm.  The buffet is from 5:45 to 6:45 pm.  The live auction is from 6:45 to 8:00 pm and dessert is from 8:00 to 9:00 pm.
     Both the silent and live auctions will include over 200 pieces of work generously donated by very talented Vermont artists and craftspersons, plus "special auction items" donated by area businesses and individuals. Items for auction range from rugs, jewelry, baskets and quilts to wallhangings, woven scarfs and throws and pottery.

  Jill Charbonneau has been carrying mail since 1983.  The fact that she has been the local coordinator for the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Food Drive since 1992 says something important about what she and her fellow local letter carrier, volunteers are doing to help feed hungry people.
    “The economy is tough on more and more families.  What I love about the drive is that it shows that our local customers want to help every year.  It makes us feel good and it remains a nice community effort that really helps those who need the food,” she explains.

New Stadium on Castelton College Campus

The new Spartan Stadium continues to take shape on the Castelton College Campus.  The facility currently has a main bleacher section that will seat 1500 and a unique press box and tower overlooking the state of the art playing surface also currently under construction.  The press box features architecture that resembles a typical New England railroad station from a bygone era and is finished in earth tones giving the entire complex a definite, environmental friendly and green signature.  The new facility will be part of a sweeping new look for sports facilities on campus.    [ more ]
